My name is Penne Crews and I am a volunteer at the HRRRF and have been since July of last year. I go out every Sat. am (when I am not traveling) and help with AM feed. I have found it to be a very rewarding experience and have mets lots of wonderful people. The mornings are quiet until the horses in the barn see you coming in with the wheel barrow of grain and then the neighing, and movement of the front hoof begins (showing impatience)and the pacing, and the heads bobbing up and down as you walk by a stall. The head bobbing is the best and some of them have perfected it. I had little experience with horses other than riding until I started at the rescue. Now, I have experience but am learning new things every weekend. It's lots of fun and very humbling to be around so many beautiful animals. I feel extremely fortunate.
